In addition to the Craft Table, Lego Table, and other rotating self-directed activities (sandbox, puppet theatre, puzzles, scavenger hunts, etc.), the library offers weekly and seasonal children’s programs. Please see our calendar for a full list of events.
Kids’ Crafts
Join Miss Gina for weekly projects on Wednesdays at 3pm!
Geared 5-up, but open to patrons of all ages. Younger participants will need more adult guidance.
Baby Storytime
Babies from birth to 18 months (pre-walkers) and their caregivers will enjoy songs, rhymes, and stories, followed by open playtime. Runs Thursdays @ 10am.
Tween Time
Tween Time is open to patrons aged 8-12 and runs on Thursdays at 3:30.
We do crafts, experiments, challenges, and generally hang out and chatter about nonsense.
Preschool Storytime
A 30-minute program featuring themed stories, fingerplays, and songs to be enjoyed by parents, caregivers, and preschool-aged children. Followed by a small, related craft. Runs Fridays at 10am.
Build-It!
Drop in between 10:30 and 12:30 every Saturday for family build-it time! Lego Duplo blocks and Mega Blocks will be available for an open play time in the children’s area. Children and their caregivers can use the library’s blocks to build and create together (Lego Duplo blocks will be provided; leave yours at home!).
Super Saturday: Last Saturday of the month, 10:30 to 12:30
Drop in between 10:30 and 12:30 on the last Saturday of the month for family build-it time plus Little Explorers! Lego Duplo blocks and Mega Blocks will be available for an open play time in the children’s area with a selection of sensory activities and crafts set up in the library. Caregiver supervision of small children is required.
Little Explorers
A program for preschoolers featuring various stations set up with a selection of sensory activities and crafts. Periodically runs during the Preschool Storytime slot.

Our Summer Reading program runs through July and August, while our Winter Reading program runs through January and February. Both are centered around merit badges, which patrons of all ages can earn badges.
Each badge is earned through a combination of reading books and doing projects. Books and projects are to be centered around the theme of the badge, and badges can be earned by patrons of all ages.
In addition to receiving the badge itself, for each badge earned, we put a book into the library collection in the participant’s name.
While the Library offers lots of related programming, we also encourage participants to do things independently: taking a trip to the ocean to explore the tide pools for the Ocean Badge, or to an art museum for the Art Badge, or to a Maine State Park for the Maine Badge, for example.
Badges are presented at various Badge Ceremonies throughout the year; participants who are unable to attend are able to pick their badges up at the Library at any time after that.
