Volunteering:

Volunteers help to keep the library budget DOWN and the quality of service UP, as well as helping to forge connections between people and within the larger community. Tasks will vary according to age, interests, and experience: if you have special skills or a certain expertise in a specific area, let us know!

Would you like to help us buy new materials, expand our programming, and/or keep our facility in great shape?

Donated Items:
We both appreciate and accept physical donations. When sorting your items, please keep the following criteria in mind:

  • The items must be in salable condition, i.e. not musty, mildewed, torn/broken, or overly marked up.
  • As the librarian must look through the donations before accepting them, please bring them to the library during open hours.
  • If you would like to donate multiple boxes, please call ahead to be sure we have staff available to accommodate you. Our phone number is 207.499.7114.
  • Items we accept: fiction and general nonfiction books for all ages, DVDs, audiobooks on CD, puzzles, games, LEGO and DUPLO bricks, craft supplies, and various other things. If you aren’t sure, just ask!
  • Items we cannot accept: textbooks; encyclopedias; condensed books; travel guides, medical, or computer books more than two years old; VHS and/or cassette tapes; books that are musty, mildewed, broken, etc.

If the items are not added to the library collection, we reserve the right to sell them in our ongoing book sale. A large part of our collection is comprised of donated items: thanks very much for thinking of us!
